The honest answer on Fortnite token chance: Epic has not published the drop rate for Pirate Shop Access. Epic-confirmed Every number you see online, including ours, is an estimate.

Enter how many chests you expect to open and pick a drop-rate estimate. The calculator uses 1 − (1 − p)ⁿ, the chance of at least one find in n independent chests.

Estimate your odds

An estimate, not a prediction. Epic has not published a drop rate, so every preset below is a guess with a label showing who made it.

Count every chest you open or break across all matches.

Where each drop rate estimate comes from

We rate each figure by who made it and what it rests on.

Blortzen’s model (about 1 in 2,000). Community estimate The leaker estimates that roughly 1 in 100 chests rolls a Treasure Hunt prize. That prize roll has tiers (roughly Standard 60–70%, Major 20–25%, Supreme 5–10%). The token sits in the Supreme tier alongside that week’s gold skin, which gives about 1 in 2,000 per chest if Supreme is near 10% and the two items split it. If Supreme is closer to 5%, the same model gives about 1 in 4,000. Blortzen himself says his math can be wrong.

The gold-skin adjustment (about 1 in 1,000). Community estimate Reports say Major and Supreme prizes do not repeat once you own them. If you already have that week’s gold skin, the token would be the only Supreme prize left, roughly doubling your odds under this model.

“1 in 700,000.” Disputed / unverified Circulated on social media from launch week. No one has shown where it came from, and dataminer HYPEX said the real odds are not in the game files. Treat it as made up.

“1 in 70,000.” Disputed / unverified Another rumor, called nonsense by Video Games Chronicle.

Epic’s statement. Epic-confirmed Epic says the token works “just like any of the chests in Battle Royale, so every player has an equal opportunity.” That rules out account-level tricks, but it is not a number.

Does playing in a squad raise your odds?

If one party member’s find unlocks Pirate Shop Access for the whole party, which press and players widely report, Reported then each teammate’s chests are extra rolls for you. A full squad opening 100 chests each is about 400 rolls for everyone in it.

The calculator models this by multiplying your chests by squad size. That assumes each chest is an independent roll and teammates open a similar number. If either is wrong, the squad figure is too high.

Things that do not change your odds

  • New or low-level accounts: debunked. Disputed / unverified
  • “Better” chest types or Vaults: no evidence; Epic says every chest follows the same rules.
  • Token compasses, glitches and paid tools: fake, and tools can get you banned. Disputed / unverified
  • Power Hours: dataminer HYPEX says boosted “Pirate Shop Power Hours” are coming. Reported Epic has not announced a schedule or how much they would help.

Methodology

We did not run in-game tests and have no drop data of our own. The numbers here are math applied to published estimates. Each chest is treated as an independent roll with the same probability, as Epic’s statement implies. Real odds may differ, may change with hotfixes, and may not be the same for every chest or week.

Drop rate FAQ

What is the official Fortnite token chance?

There isn’t one. As of our last review, Epic had not published a drop rate for Pirate Shop Access.

How many chests do I need to open?

At the community estimate of 1 in 2,000, you need about 1,386 chests for a 50% chance and about 4,605 for 90%. A full party sharing the reward needs about a quarter of that each.

Is the 1 in 700,000 drop rate real?

No source has been shown for it, and it is widely considered made up.

Does owning the gold skin increase the Fortnite shop token chance?

Under Blortzen’s model, yes: once that week’s gold skin is in your Locker, the token would be the only top-tier prize left, roughly doubling the odds to about 1 in 1,000. This is a model, not a confirmed rule.

Fortnite token chance, summed up: no official rate exists; about 1 in 2,000 chests is the best community estimate; party play multiplies your rolls; and nothing for sale improves it. Back to the Fortnite shop token guide.
